EU AI Act

The European Union's comprehensive regulation on artificial intelligence, establishing a risk-based framework for AI systems sold or used in the EU. Prohibited practices (social scoring, certain biometric uses) took effect in February 2025. GPAI obligations hit in August 2025. The big one -- high-risk AI system requirements -- enforces August 2, 2026. If your AI system affects EU users, this likely applies regardless of where your company is headquartered.
