The US federal agency responsible for consumer protection and antitrust enforcement. The FTC has been actively pursuing AI-related enforcement, including "Operation AI Comply" targeting AI washing (misleading claims about AI capabilities) and actions against companies whose AI systems cause consumer harm. FTC Section 5 gives the agency broad authority to act against "unfair or deceptive acts or practices" involving AI.
