License Compliance

The practice of ensuring that an organization's use of software -- both open source and commercial -- complies with the applicable license terms. This includes attribution requirements, copyleft obligations, distribution restrictions, and commercial use limitations. In diligence, license compliance failures can reduce valuations, delay closings, or create post-acquisition liabilities. Automated SCA tools help, but license interpretation still requires human judgment.
