Responsible AI Licenses
A family of licenses designed specifically for AI models and datasets that include behavioral use restrictions — prohibiting uses like surveillance, weapons development, or generating disinformation. RAIL licenses (like BigScience's BLOOM license) are neither traditional open source nor proprietary. They matter for due diligence because a model under a RAIL license may appear "open" but carry restrictions that affect your intended use case.
